3:47 AM ● Youth Camp at Iba, Zambales! :O

MAY 26-27, 2010.
Summer Youth Camp @ Highlands, Iba, Zambales
FINAL DESTINATION. "For every beginning, there is an end."
First, thanks to my buddy Jake, for inviting me to this event. If not for him, i wouldn't have this great experience.  8am, call time. I didn't sleep overnight and it's not because i'm excited. It's because of my usual insomnia attacks. Okay so i'm a bit anxious. it's my first time to go on such trips and i dont know anyone else except for Jake.  He was just invited by her ate and he invited me along. whew. So, bus # 4 it is. When we got on, people were greeting Jake's ate (ate lotes) and we knew no one. we sat at the most back part of the bus because ate lotes' friends were there. Kayyso they are ate lotes' classmates. The troop were Baldo, Greza, Lyka, Ate Angge, Shobe and Sean. They were 4th year, nursing students in our alma matter, UPHR except for Greza and Shobe. Greza is an accounting student and Shobe's taking something like a biblical course and both are not from perps. Ghad. i was a bit shy getting along with them on the trip to Zambales. maybe im still adjusting. haha. man, we have a 4-year gap and i dunno how to get along with them. but they're really friendly and all  So, the wheels started running at 8:30am and believe it or not, we landed in Zambales at exactly 2:30. kinda weird how the time's really accurate. lol 6 hours of sitting, listening to my iPod and watching avatar. haha. TIRING. i cant even talk to Jake cause we are sitted apart.

DAY 1
3:00PM - ARRIVAL
When we got there, the rules were explained and the id (which serves as your food pass) and booklet were given.
3:00PM-4:00PM -- ROOM ASSIGNMENTS
then we were escorted to our dorm, ooh, no fans. darn it. it's freaking hot.  right, btw, have you ever seen a 3-decked bed? cause that's what's in there. haha! cool right. i boarded the third one which is the highest.

5:00PM-6:00PM -- ORIENTATION
hmm. rules were explained. again. then the teams were introduced. Let's go team U-TURN! the other teams were YIELD, ONE WAY, and DETOUR. each team has to show off their big  and our team won! haha. i didn't realize making waves are that cool  hmm and what exactly happened? i freaking forgot
6:00PM-7:30PM -- DINNER
rightt, this, i remember  boys and girls are seperated, again and  each of us has a big chunk of fried fish ( im not sure what fish, bangus ata ) a big cup of rice, monggo soup and a mango jelly for dessert. i didn't really enjoyed  the meal. i guess i only ate half the rice and the fish. however, the mango jelly was really good.

7:30-9:00PM -- OPENING NIGHT
The opening night started with each team's cheer. rightt, i forgot who won. i guess it's yield or us. Then we watched videos and skits and there was a band who played One Way by Hillsong, Jump Around by Planet Shakers and a tagalog christian song  T'was really fun. more of a rockin' concert than a religious event. guess that's just how christians rock it  then after the fun part. a speaker came then talked blablablaaaaaaa. honestly, i was getting sleepy  then there was a door, and we were asked to walk through it if we truly accept Jesus as our one and only savior. So, we walked through it. Then we went directly to the canteen and we were group into six or fives. then someone talked to us and her mission is to make us agree with the baptismal thingy. It isn't really a baptismal though like your religion would change. It's just something like an assurance that we accept Jesus and so that our sins may be forgiven. I know that nothing would really change but i didn't agree. There's just something that makes me doubt. Cause in my opinion, as raised with catholic practices. We can make that connection with Jesus on our own, not needing whatever activities just to assure your faith. I dunno. that's my opinion. It just gets me like, i think im doubting my faith in God that i can;t believe him enough that i still need those stuffs. err. waeber.

10:00PM -- LIGHTS OFF.
hey, remember how i said that there were no fans. but that night, it was freezzzeeeeng cold. There were no blankets and pillows. But it was comfortable though. I used my towel as a blanket, dang. i dunno how it got so cold.

DAY 2
5:30AM - 6:00AM -- COUNSELOR'S BREAKFAST
6:00AM - 7:00AM -- CAMPER'S BREAKFAST.
KRYT. What's for breakfast? A small piece of i-dont-know-what's-that-fish, cup of coffee, a banana, and ofcourse, rice.
7:00AM - 9:00AM -- 2ND SESSION
Let's leave this blank, i forgot what happened

9:00AM - 11:00AM -- GAMES!
oooh, everyone's hyped! spell games, F-U-N!

Station # 2
The box thingy. 10 members(boys seperated from girls. again :|) should get in the big box. There will be a coach who will instruct directions on where to go and then the players inside will stop moving and must shoot the ball in a basketball ring while inside the big box. Dang! i went                        in with Ate Angge. Haha!

Station # 1
Next was the MUDSLIDE! First you have to climb up a freakin wall then swing your way to the monkey ropes then crawl in mud then go for the mudslide! woohooooo! i didn't do the obstacles though, i went directly to the mudslide! HAHA! aw freak! i dont have pictures for the mudslide. Dang. cause im looking for my cam. didn't know it's with greza. Ate Lyka have pics but they aren't uploaded yet

Station # 3
This was done in the lake. Obstacles were there. blablabla. i didn't go for it because there were too many people in the line. I think Ate Angge, Shobe and Greza went for it
Station # 4
Last but definitely not the least, DRUM ROLLS a.k.a WIPEOUT! Dang! This was the best! I didn't try this due to we're running out of time and there were too many people on the line  Ghad, if you were only there to witness the famous Drum-Roll-Fails! Haha! Dang, can't help but laugh. I think Jake was the first one to cross the drumrolls in our team though he did it while crawling. LOL

11:30AM - 12:30PM -- LUNCH
After the games, so obviously we need to clean ourselves up but guess what?! THERE WAS NO WATER COMING OUT OF THE SHOWERS! time's running and we need to get to the canteen before 12:30 or we'll never get the chance to eat our lunch. Water's running only in the toilet cubicles. So, we don't have any choice but to take a bath there  Okay so fortunately, we still get to eat our lunch. It was Afritada, and Pineapples for dessert. Whew.

12:30PM - 2:30PM -- LAST SESSION.
Like in the opening night, there were skits and bands and others. and of course, we wouldn't miss our all-time-favorite, the love notes.  There's a part in the booklet called love notes and you can write anything that your heart says and you just have to put it in the mailbox located infront of the stage then the host will read it. Haha! If your letter was picked, you and your desire will be sent up the stage. LOL  hmm, then finally, the teams who won where announced. DETOUR was last, and U-TURN was third (we actually thought we'd get 2nd or 1st cause we always win in activities. seems that we lost in the games ), ONE WAY was second and YIELD was first. Guess what's the price? NONE  the experience pays it all

2:30PM - 3:00PM - DEPARTURE
Aww, Goodbye Zambales. We departed at i think, 2:30. we slept at the first part of the trip, then i think i woke up at five? and everybody else were also awake. We were bored and Baldo said we should play a game and it's charades  our journey from Pampanga to Manila were filled with endless laughters because Baldo's such a clown  we played charades then when we got tired of it, we played concentration  D'ya know that? "Concentration is the rhythm, concentration navigation let us begin with... then you say your number and the number of the player that you want to call" and when you lose, your face will be murdered by your playmates' powdered fingers. HAHA! we were 8 all in all so once you lose, 7 powder-dipped-fingers will touch your face  Jake and Lyka got the most number of losses cause they get confused easily  I lost two times cause the first time i lost, i forgot what number to say and the second was i was lost in the beat and i forgot to say my numbers  LOL look at Sean(the one who has the most powder on his face) believe it or not, he won! so much for concentration, he didn't lose even once, but Baldo made sure his face also gets murdered with powder   Ghad, That was Fun!

youth camps are not just about having fun. It's about accepting God as your One and Only Saviour, learning about what's right and what's wrong, improving you leadership skills, being a good follower, and creating teamwork with strangers :D
